I am aware of the inability of the medical system to respond to your need for answers. It is critical that you have a central medical provider to help you coordinate your journey back to full health. When I am in that role it is one of the most rewarding aspects of my practice. However, I am also an orthopedic surgeon performing complex spinal surgery and my capacity to take on that central role is limited.
Although I utilize Mind Body Syndrome (MBS) principles in conjunction with all of my surgical patients I do not primarily treat chronic pain. My practice is limited to surgical referrals from another spine specialist such as a physiatrist or surgeon. I refer to a highly-skilled non-operative team to work through the long-term pain and rehab issues.
Our Spine Triage Team of nurses answer the incoming new patient calls and are committed to sending you to the most appropriate resource.
Hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday thru Friday
The Swedish Pain and Headache Center is an excellent resource for chronic pain and utilize MBS treatment principles. I work closely with them if there is a question regarding the necessity of surgery. The vast majority of chronic pain does not respond well to surgical intervention.
